A Galentine’s Thank You to Our Donors

We offer our sincerest gratitude for our 2023 donors as we celebrate Galantine’s Day this February 13th! It may seem like a silly holiday, but we are united when women help other women (and girls). We couldn’t keep up our mission and workshops without you. Some of you have given monetary donations, and others have given their time and talents. Some organizations have donated countless products for us to share with our girls at upcoming workshops.

In 2023, we had the pleasure of working with Too Little Children and The Pad Project, whose affiliate networks of sewers have sent us 350+ pairs of underwear and re-usable pads. These pads are important for girls in Burkina Faso as traditional pads and tampons we would use in the U.S. are not readily available, and can be very expensive if they can be obtained. A re-usable fabric pad uses leak-proof material and can be washed and dried out to be worn again and again.

We also received a generous donation of menstrual cups, menstrual products and hygiene materials from Period.org. We also received a generous donation of notebooks and school supplies from Target.

We’ve been inspired by the ladies of Ambitious Women at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, who raised over $125.00 on GNWL’s behalf from their December bake sale. We can’t forget the hard work of our intern Priyal, who held a local collection for GNWL at a town fair, raising over $125.00 for us and spreading our mission with her community. We were also awarded a generous donation of over $2,500.00 from the Altar’d State store at THE AVENUE WEST COBB for their January 2023 #MissionMonday.

We wouldn’t be here now without small donations from loyal donors, who have listened to our call for donations during our 2023 International Menstrual Health Facebook Campaign and our Giving Tuesday Campaigns, working toward building latrines at our partner schools in Burkina Faso. We raised over $900.00 toward our goal.

Contribute to our next fundraiser. Join our GoFundMe campaign. To end period poverty, we are providing access to menstrual education and period care products. Plus, we are partnering with Burkina Faso schools to advocate for better restroom facilities. A private, gender-safe latrine at a partner school costs approx. $1,500 USD. As we begin the countdown toward Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024 (May 28th), we are putting a call to action: Let’s reach our fundraising goal to build a gender-safe latrine by this momentous day.
